It seems you don’t accept that Italian women have a share of responsibility in the present situation. Of course italian society and men have a huge responsibility too but the situation won’t change unless the Italian women move like they did in the 70’s and 80’s in Italy

Also It’s not very coherent for Italian women to at the same time criticize Berlusconi or any other like him (rightly so) and at the same time raise their sons like they were their little kings. Sons are sadly still raised that way in Italy and this influences their behavior women when adults.

I do think that part of the sexism in Italy comes from the bad mother / sun relation. You just have to look the number of marriages that fail because of the intrusion of the mother in low even in 2012 (45-50%) to see how damaging a bad mother / son relation can be. I’m Italian so I know what I’m telling.

Italy had a powerful feminist in the 70’s & 80’s and is now dormant. Why ? Why women don’t revive it ? Don’t tell me it’s too difficult to do that in 2012. It was difficult in the 70’s but today’s italian women complain about Berlusconi and don’t do a damn thing to change the things.

I’m Italian and there is something I despise in italians, men and women (sometimes including me), and that is that bad habit of crying and complaining and do nothing about it.

So instead of feeling vilified can you do something at your level to have that situation changed ?

critical, independent of mind and intelligent. which is NOT what you see on Italian TV, or in society, generally. I’m merely
describing the horrible situation women are put in, and are ACCEPTED to be put in, and that’s the problem. if you had read the article better you would have understood that I’m not saying at all that Italian women are stupid. on the contrary: I point out exactly how many of the girls participating in Veline – some of them with degrees, studying, working, etc – seem to be ‘playing dumb’, because that’s what society expects from them.

Yes, Mother son relation is part of the sexism in Italy. If only Italian mothers could understand their sons are not their lovers or little kings ! (Just for for info in Italy around 50% of divorces are due to the mother-in-law intrusion the the couple). What I’m saying is that sexism in Italy can’t be removed / reduced unless the italian society does something to change that unhealthy mother son relation prevailing in Italy. As a matter if fact it’s not only Italy, but all southern europe.

Btw feminism was strong in Italy in the 70’s but his now dormant. It will not awake unless italian women do something about it. Something else than looking fashion magazines & shows. Wake up damn !

You think Italian women are stupid just because they do not fit your criteria. Let people decide. Italian women are intelligent enough to take their decisions.

an Italian woman vilified by these insulting comments.
