Daniel Dayan


Daniel Dayan is Directeur de Recherche at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Paris; a fellow of the Marcel Mauss Institute (Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales); and a Professor of Media Sociology at the University of Geneva. He holds degrees in anthropology, comparative literature, semiotics and film studies from Stanford University, the Sorbonne and Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, where he received a Ph.D. in Aesthetics. He is the author, along with Elihu Katz, of the award winning book Media Events, Harvard University Press, 1994.
