Benoit Challand


BENOIT CHALLAND holds a PhD from the European University Institute in Florence and a Master from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS, London). In the last six years, he has taught courses in political sociology and comparative politics at the Universities of Bologna, Fribourg, Pavia and Bethlehem, at the crossroad of European and Middle Eastern studies. He is currently Visiting Associate Professor at the New School for Social Research (Politics).

Challand has studied the impact of foreign assistance on Palestinian civil society, and numerous scholarly articles on the issue of aid to the Arab world, Islamic charities, and internal Palestinian politics. He also worked and published on Trotskyism, anti-communism in Western Europe and political theory.
